Marta P. Carrasco

Researcher
Short bio & current area(s) of interest
Marta Carrasco has been focused mainly in medicinal chemistry using both organic synthesis and computational tools to achieve her goals. She has been dedicated to virtual screening and focused structure-based design to discover new chemical scaffolds that selectively target enzymes and other proteins involved in several diseases including cancer and malaria. The ultimate goal of her research is to use computational tools to design new scaffolds and to develop general synthetic methods and strategies in order to synthesize potential bioactive molecules. She is now working in an ongoing project related to the development of a preclinical candidate for targeting malaria parasite. At the same time, she is developing her own project related with photoswitchable kinase inhibitors to control angiogenesis.
