António Gouveia is a Pharmacist (1987), specialist in hospital pharmacy (1998) and regulatory affairs (2001) (speciality titles granted by Portuguese Pharmaceutical Society (Ordem dos Farmacêuticos), the pharmacy profession regulator in Portugal. Worked as military pharmacist and chief of pharmacy department of navy hospital between 1989 and 14997 and 2001-2002. Head of medicines evaluation direction in INFARMED (Portuguese medicines regulator) (1997-2001). Was member of several European working groups in regulatory affairs. Director of Hospital Pharmacy in Instituto Português de Oncologia de Lisboa de Francisco Gentil, the main oncology hospital in the south of Portugal. Member of scientific committee of the European Association of Hospital Pharmacists (2006-2019). Member of the human medicines evaluation committee of INFARMED SINCE 1991. Member of the executive committee of the CEIC, Portuguese central ethics committee for clinical investigation (2005-2011). Member of national pharmacy and therapeutics committee in INFARMED since 2013. Vice-president of CATS, the national health technologies assessment committee in INFARMED since 2016. President of the college of hospital pharmacy specialists of Ordem dos Farmacêuticos from 2012 to 2019. Current Areas of Interest are oncology, pharmaceutical technology applied to hospital pharmacy practice and health technologies evaluation.
