Short bio & current area(s) of interest
Andreia Marques is a microbiologist with a PhD in Veterinary Sciences and MSc in Applied Microbiology. She has been working in scientific research for over 10 years now. The focus of her PhD research was the study of innate immunity, the identification of biomarkers useful in the veterinary medicine field (i.e. acute phase proteins and miRNAs), but she also worked in other teams and topics, such as plant-bacteria interaction, genetic engineering, genomics and proteomics. She is passionate about learning and knowledge transfer between different areas of study, techniques and approaches and has had the great opportunity of working in different countries in Europe: Portugal, Italy and Slovakia, with amazing people. Her current interests are: health sciences, microbiology, genome bioinformatics, Enterobacteriaceae spp. phage genomics, evolution and biomedical applications using phage lysins.
