The PhP& HC Lab aims to deliver scientific evidence and knowledge on the real-life use of medicines and health technologies, from the societal and population levels to the individual perspectives. In particular, it is meant to evaluate pharmacists’ and pharmacy services’ contribution to the rational use of medicines, including information and communication fluxes.
Social pharmacy research
Social Pharmacy is the multidisciplinary field of education and research that focuses on society’s role, provision, regulation, and use of medicines. Humanist features of the pharmaceutical profession are also addressed. Social Pharmacy combines pharmacy studies with theories and methods from the social, psychological and humanistic disciplines.
Pharmacy practice research
Pharmacy Practice research is part of the broader field of health services research, focusing on pharmacists’ role in healthcare systems. It is aimed to uncover the role and impact of pharmacists’ interventions and activities related to medication and other health technologies usage.
Health communication research
Communication plays a significant role in all human endeavors. Delivering the best healthcare outcomes for all involved requires effective communication. Healthcare communication emerges from high-quality evidence produced by research work such as observing communication in practice and studying implications for health outcomes, involving patients in intervention design, and applying communication resources across different channels, including face-to-face, written and digital technologies.
