Pedro Pinto is a Physiologist with a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences MSc and PhD degrees in Advanced Pharmacokinetics, obtained at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon. His research aimed at the investigation and development of advanced methods to measure basic and pathological skin in vivo, mostly based in the use of mathematical modeling of biometric and vascular variables. He has extensive experience in developing protocols for efficacy and safety testing for the cosmetic industry, and in the evaluation of Bioequivalence trials for the regulatory authorities. Pedro Pinto founded two companies, one of which (PhD Trials) is the leading Contract Research Organization (CRO) in Portugal for the skin evaluation of consumer products. Current research involves the use of image analysis and artificial intelligence algorithms to classify and analyze skin parameters following consumer products application. He is member of the Medicines Evaluation Commission at the Portuguese Medicines Authority (INFARMED), and an expert member of the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
