Paulo Pacheco graduated in Biomedicine at Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO) in 2010. Paulo Pacheco obtained his Master’s degree in Molecular and Cell Biology (Pharmacology and Immunology field), at Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FIOCRUZ) (2011-2013). In February of 2019, Paulo received his PhD in Chemistry (Organic chemistry field) at the Chemistry Institute of the Federal Fluminense University (IQ/UFF). Until September of 2020, Paulo stayed as a postdoctoral researcher at Dr. Robson Xavier Faria’s research group (Oswaldo Cruz Institute, FIOCRUZ) with postdoctoral fellowships awarded by the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and Carlos Chagas Filho Foundation for Supporting Research in the State of Rio de Janeiro (FAPERJ). During this stay, Paulo Pacheco worked on research projects regarding the biological evaluation of novel chemical compounds for different purposes, particularly parasitic diseases, such as Chagas disease. Currently, Paulo Pacheco works as junior researcher at the Medicinal Organic Chemistry group of the Research Institute for Medicines (iMed.ULisboa), Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon (FFUL), under the supervision of Professor Maria M. M. Santos. During his scientific career, Paulo Pacheco published 13 articles in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and attended to several scientific congresses, presenting 8 posters. Paulo Pacheco also participated as member in 4 master’s thesis committees and supervised one Master’s thesis. Paulo Pacheco’s current research interest is the development of novel organic compounds, aiming at the development of novel anti-tumor and anti-parasitic agents.
