Maria Elvira Franco Gil is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Pharmaceutics and Food Technology at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). She is a member of the UCM 910939 research group “Formulation and Bioavailability of New Pharmaceuticals” and a member of the University Institute of Industrial Pharmacy (IUFI). Due to her background, she teaches B.Sc. and M.Sc. students and is engaged in research activities both in academia and industry. She got her B.Sc. in Pharmacy in 1990 at UCM, 1990, and then proceeded to her Ph.D. studies, in the same university, having graduated in 2007. Her subsequent professional experience includes: pharmacy assistant, health visitor technician, technician of the Industrial Biotransformations Service (in the Madrid Science Park Foundation), teacher of training courses (in Institut Univ. De Ciència i Tecnología, S.A.) and temporary Titular Professor in the UCM. Maria Elvira Gil has directed nine editions of the masters course “Percutaneous administration forms for topical and systemic action. “ Furthermore, she conducted research work for R&D companies under a confidentiality agreement.
Her research focuses on semisolid pharmaceutical preparations for topical skin administration, namely: formulation, elaboration, and evaluation (stability and release) of emulsions and gels.
