Short bio & current area(s) of interest
Daniela Pinto is a postdoctoral researcher at iMed integrated in the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon. As member of the PhaBRIC lab, she is developing the project “Fusion of complementary antibacterial functions as a new strategy to generate alternative agents to fight antibiotic-resistant pathogens”. Daniela combines dry and wet-lab strategies to approach her research questions. She has investigated antibiotic resistance in environmental opportunistic pathogens, the viable but nonculturable state in food pathogens and, signal transduction and transcriptional regulation under stressful conditions. Her current interests focus on the control of bacterial infections by looking at signal transduction systems as potential antibacterial targets and on finding new ways to deliver phage endolysins to the site of infections.
