Ana Paula Francisco graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Faculty of Pharmacy- University of Lisbon in 1989 and completed her PhD in 2005 at the same University. She is the Principal Investigator of the research line “Prodrug development, stability and metabolic studies” at the Medicinal Organic Chemistry group (MedOrgChem) and an Assistant Professor of Organic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry at FFUL. Her research interest has been directed to the development of anticancer agents based in the triazene scaffold. Complementary research interests are prodrug chemistry, chemical optimization of bioactive molecules and stability and metabolic studies of drugs and prodrugs. In addition, Ana Francisco has been working on a range of other collaborative and translational projects dedicated mostly to the development or usage of diverse delivery systems that can be associated with drugs to improve their pharmacological profile.
