Dr. Alessandro Polini (male) is Principal Investigator at Institute of Nanotechnology of CNR (CNR Nanotec) in Italy. He has large experience in the field of biomaterials for tissue engineering, manufacturing and design of Organ-on-a-chip and LoC systems, materials sciences and microfabrication. Author of > 40 publications (h=20), he founded a spin-off company (SM&T S.r.l.) and has been involved in numerous national and international awards and honors, such as the H2020 FLAMIN-GO project, focused on next-generation organ-on-chip solutions for personalized medicine in rheumatoid arthritis (total budget 5.8M€, CNR budget 800k€), while is also a team member in our project ANIMATE from FCT. In this project, he is responsible for the design and production of microfluidic systems allowing the interconnection by exosomes between separated platforms containing different cell types.
