Ema Paulino holds a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon, with postgraduate studies in Community Pharmacy and Leadership, as well as an executive program in “Value Measurement for Health Care” from Harvard Business School.
Ema Paulino has contributed to the field of pharmaceutical care and public health. Her research focuses on medication adherence, pharmacy-based services, and the role of community pharmacies in enhancing public health outcomes. She has authored and co-authored numerous articles published in peer-reviewed journals, including studies on medication review, the management of chronic diseases in pharmacy settings, and the implementation of innovative pharmaceutical services. Her work emphasizes improving patient care through the integration of pharmacies into broader healthcare systems, advocating for accessible and equitable healthcare solutions.
Ema Paulino is currently the President of the Portuguese National Association of Pharmacies (ANF) since June 2021. She represents ANF in organizations such as the Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union (PGEU) and the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), where she has served on the Executive Committee. She is also a member of the European Network for Pharmaceutical Care (PCNE), having chaired the organization from 2020 to February 2022. She is a member of the Board of the International Primary Care Respiratory Group (IPCRG).
