Alba graduated as first in her class at the BSc in Pharmacy (2015) from Universidad de Salamanca (Spain) and holds a Master in Community Pharmaceutical Care (2015) from Universitat de València (Spain). During her Bachelor’s, she was granted several fellowships as a research intern at the Spanish National Center for Cardiovascular Research (2014) and the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology of Cancer (2015). She conducted her Bachelor’s thesis at the Pharmaceutical Sciences Department (Universidad de Salamanca) about novel tubulin inhibitors based on m-phenylenediamine (2014-2015). In October 2020, she finished her PhD in Medicinal Chemistry with high honors after five years at the Biological Research Center Margarita Salas (Madrid) and the Pharmaceutical Sciences Department from Universidad de Salamanca. She has been working mainly in the areas of Molecular Biology and Medicinal Chemistry. In 2019, she was granted a fellowship as visiting researcher at American University in Washington DC (USA) to study the relationship between body mass index and resistance to bortezomib in multiple myeloma. She is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Chemical Biology Group (Universidade de Lisboa) since March 2021.
