Carla Torre graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences (PharmD), holds a post-graduate Diploma (PgD) in Pharmacy and Medicinal Products Law and a master’s degree (MSc) in Epidemiology. In 2018, she completed her PhD in Pharmacy, specialization in Pharmacoepidemiology at the Faculty of Pharmacy University of Lisbon, where she is currently Assistant Professor (responsible for teaching Pharmacoepidemiology, Pharmacovigilance & Risk Management of Medicines and Health Products at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels). In 2020, Carla Torre concluded the Postgraduate Professional Development Certificate in Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacovigilance at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. Over the years she completed several specialization and training courses in design, conducting, analysis and interpretation of pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacovigilance, clinical trials, and statistics research. She has several years of solid and hands-on experience in (Pharmaco)epidemiology arena, including all steps of conducting real-world drug research studies and interpretating data in different environments and across various therapeutic areas. Carla Torre leads the Epidemiology, Pharmacoepidemiology & Pharmacovigilance sub-group of the Laboratory of Systems Integration Pharmacology, Clinical & Regulatory Science at imed – Research Institute for Medicines and is the co-coordinator of the Master in Regulation and Evaluation of Medicines and Health Products at FFUL. Currently, Carla Torre is the co-opted member for Pharmacoepidemiology of the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP), member of the Methodology Working Party (MWP) and Pharmacovigilance Risk Assessment Committee (PRAC) alternate member for Portugal at the European Medicines Agency (EMA). She is member of the Evaluation Board of Medicines (CAM) of the Portuguese National Authority of Medicines and Health Products (INFARMED, I.P) and also an expert in Pharmacoepidemiology for the Regional Pharmacovigilance Unit of Lisboa and Setúbal/Santarém (INFARMED, I.P). Her key research interests relevant for imed – Research Institute for Medicines are pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacovigilance risk assessment, and regulatory science.
