Claudia Palladino is researcher working at the Unit of HIV Evolution, Epidemiology and Prevention at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon. She is also consultative expert to the Commission for the Evaluation of Technologies for Health of the Portuguese National Medicines Agency (INFARMED) and has worked as professor of statistics at the University of Lisbon. The epidemiology of infectious disease, drugs and risk behaviour has been the bedrock of her professional scientific research, mostly addressing the need for data and understanding to be exploited by health services and agencies to optimise public health policy and practice. This research on HIV and hepatitis has involved multi-disciplinary collaboration (with the Italian Institute of Infectious Diseases, Italy; INSERM, France; Marañón Hospital, Spain; University of Edinburgh, UK; Hospital Divina Providência, Angola) within the framework of large European and African cohorts. In 2016, she collaborated with the WHO in HIV treatment optimization. She holds a PhD in Pasteurian Sciences (2008), a Master’s in Biology (2002) and earned her Bachelor’s in Biology, summa cum laude, from the from the University of Rome ‘La Sapienza’, Italy.
