iMed.ULisboa Investigators’ paper on COVID-19 featured in Nature Nanotechnology cover

Helena Florindo, leader of the BioNanoSciences – Drug Delivery and Immunotherapy group at iMed.ULisboa, and Bárbara Carreira and Rita Acúrcio, from the same group, published a review manuscript on Nature Nanotechnology last August. The paper, entitled Immune-mediated approaches against COVID-19, is the result of a collaborative literature review performed by iMed.ULisboa researchers and Professor Ronit Satchi-Fainaro team at Tel Aviv University, and was featured in the cover (image credits to Rita Acúrcio) of the prestigious scientific journal in the August 2020 edition.

This paper constitutes a valuable contribution to the research community as it presents a comprehensive overview of SARS-CoV-2 pathogenesis and examines immune-mediated approaches currently explored for COVID-19 treatments, with an emphasis on nanotechnological tools, which are expected to play a paramount role in prophylactic and therapeutic approaches.
