Assistant Professor (Lectures and Laboratory) in the areas of Physics applied to the Pharmaceutical Sciences, Basic Physics in the use of Radiopharmaceuticals, and Fundamentals of Rheology for Foods applications. Research activities, which initially focused on the kinetic and thermodynamic study of quaternization of nitrogen and phosphorus, were followed by the studies of the solvent effects on the structure-Property relationship of bioactive solutes. More recently, colloidal suspensions of antibiotics using surfactants and bile salts as drug carrier were rheologically evaluated.
Current areas of interest include: (i) the physicochemical and rheological characterization of Portuguese honey and its derivatives, covering also the bioactivity evaluation and identification of structure-properties relationships; (ii) the physicochemical, sensory evaluation and bioactivity relationships of wine aged by innovative methods.
