Cristina Sampayo is an Assistant Professor at Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon (FFUL). Her academic career developed between the University of Lisbon (Faculty of Pharmacy from 1994-98) and University Nova de Lisboa (ITQB/IBET from 1996-98) where she completed her master’s degree, and then received her PhD in the University of Birmingham (1999 to Jan 2003). After passing through INFARMED (National Authority of Medicines and Health Products) between 2003 and 2007, she returned to the University of Lisbon in March 2007 where, in parallel to teaching, also conducts research, thus continuing with the study of pharmacological and safety aspects as well as health benefits of bioactive substances in animal models (metabolic, bone and skin disorders) at Research Institute for Medicines (iMed.ULisboa). Recently, her interests have extended to the study of the cognitive and safety effects of new psychoactive drugs having participated (2016-2018) in a European project (NPS-euronet) and being now in a national project (NPS-TEENSBRAIN) in the same area. She has supervised PhD and Master students as well as Research Fellows and Her research work has been awarded with 5 prizes. Her teaching areas include: Pharmacology, Psychopharmacology, Pathophysiology.
