We are interested to elucidate some aspects of: mycobacterial cell wall biogenesis; Mycobacteria interactions with cells; and biology of Mycobacterial latency.
Another area of interest is Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), specially, HIV2. Our group seeks to answer to the fundamental question:” Why is HIV2 less virulent than HIV-1? We are looking for cellular factors essential to the life cycle of HIV that might, in the future, constitute new targets for therapeutic interventions.
