Jorge M. Vítor
PhD (2000) in Molecular Biology, Universidade de Lisboa
Assistant Professor, Biochemistry and Human Biology
Faculdade de Farmácia, Universidade de Lisboa — Av. Prof. Gama Pinto, 1649-003 Lisboa, Portugal
Jorge Vítor has three major scientific interests: Genomic Microbiology, Helicobacter and Campylobacter Biology and Restriction and Modifications systems.
He maintains a scientific collaboration with New England Biolabs – USA, for screening and characterizing new Restriction Enzymes, from bacteria isolated from the environment. With the complete sequence of bacterial genomes he start cloning and characterizing restriction endonucleases identified with bioinformatics tools, in Campylobacter upsaliensis, C. jejuni and Helicobacter pylori genomes.
