G Soveral is group leader of the Biological Transport Group (BioLTransp) dedicated to the study of membrane transport in biological systems. Our interests are (i) understanding membrane transport phenomena and mechanisms underlying transporters defects that may lead to disease, (ii) identifying transport systems as targets for drug action, (iii) screening of compounds as modulators of channels and transporters, with emphasis on aquaporin regulation and discovery of aquaporin inhibitors for diagnostic and therapeutic applications.
