Research Interests

C. Ramalhete interests are focused on the isolation, derivarization and structural characterization of bioactive compounds from African medicinal plants, with particular emphasis to those showing antimalarial activity. She is also involved in a recent project, coordinated by Prof. M.J. Ferreira, aiming the development of new P-gp modulators and antineoplastic agents, against MDR cancer cells. To find out MDR modulators of efflux systems in resistant bacteria and Plasmodium species is another of her interests.
