André A. Santos aims at understanding how gut microbiota-derived metabolites may impact on liver disease. He focuses his project on diet mice models and correlates results with human samples to identify potential metabolites involved in the onset and progression of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Finally, his ultimate goal is to target gut microbiota as a potential new liver disease therapeutic approach.
